UNT Pro-Palestine Walkout

On April 30, 2024, during finals week at the University of North Texas, the Palestine Solidarity Committee (PSC) organized a campus-wide walkout in support of Palestine. Despite the high-stakes timing, many students joined the national protest effort by leaving class to participate. Coincidentally, the walkout took place during the final in-person meeting of my JOUR 3700 photojournalism course.

In response, our professor turned the event into an impromptu final assignment: to document the protest as working photojournalists. I joined my classmates in photographing the demonstration, capturing both the intensity and emotion of the moment. We were each asked to submit 1–2 captioned photos, and two of mine were selected for publication as part of the class’s official event coverage. This project reflects my ability to respond quickly in real-time, work under pressure, and capture impactful, narrative-driven images.
